AIS asked Monument to convert their existing offices to create a state-of-the-art offshore training centre that included a 4-metre deep survival pool.

Our open-plan design established a central dining and social hub on the ground floor of the premises, with offices and meeting rooms situated on the first floor. An extension to the rear housed the training pool and incorporated plant room and high levels of glazing so visibility and interaction were possible throughout. The interior included bespoke joinery and fitments specifically designed to reflect AIS’s corporate identity, with timeless shapes and textures ensuring the architecture remains current for years to come.

In particular, the pool tank required plenty of forethought and problem solving due to its proximity to the existing building. Overall, delivering such an ambitious centre within such a tight site footprint, made this project unique and incredibly satisfying once we’d finally realised our vision and exceeded the client’s expectations
