Union Inns appointed Monument to provide full design and construction services to restore its much-loved 1898 public house and hotel to its former glory.

After completing a dilapidation survey of the existing building, all repairs were specified and included in the architectural and interior design phase. The aim being, to retain as much of the original character and features as possible.

Once the plans and designs were agreed, we carried out the external repair works and the internal fit out of the bar, cellar, kitchen, lounge, function room and drinking corridor. The space was carefully finished off with local artwork and sporting memorabilia throughout.

Because the building is adjacent to a busy railway line, working closely with Network Rail was critical. Regular contact was established to precisely plan the external repair works that required scaffolding near live overhead lines. Despite lengthy and often complex processes, we secured the permissions we needed and carried out the work safely and successfully without causing disruption or delays to the daily service.
